Questions...

We have just started working on the project (we have had a very busy last few months) and just have a few questions.

1. Is the size of the images 30 x 30cm if they are double page spreads and does this then mean that there are 6 or 12 of the double pages?
As regards the size of the story, each section will be composed by 12 pages.
Your part is composed of 12 pages, each one of the size 30cm (horizontal) x15cm (vertical). (spread dimension = 2 pages = 60x15 cm)

2. I think that my story is a little complicated and will be hard to tell them all in the 12 pages! Could we simplify it? Maybe sticking to one of the 7 scenes or just on character. Or make just a set of random images that are not necessarily a narrative but still have the continuing theme of rain and the surreal routine? This could also be a possibility?
Yes, you can simplify! (we mean that you can illustrate only some parts of the story) but without losing the narrative sequence of the plot. Although the book is a collection of different sketches, organized along a common theme (as different travel notes of different travellers), we’d like that your and Fumje’s chapters were more narrative than the other ones.
We think it’s important to show a story and not only some details. Howether, to comunicate the narrative idea, you don’t need to illustrate each different action. There will be also the text that is useful to reach this narrative aim.

3. Can we include text? If so should this be in English?
As concerns the texts in the story, you can include some sentences, words or text in english. Anyway the story all arond the book will be in italian and we will write it down in the final version only when we’ll have the illustrations.
