Magda and BasBleu are looking for ‘english’-called things without being so: thetrifle is not an English soup, and it really isn’t a soup at all!
Does someone remind something like this in every language of every countries!

If these things are also eatable things, it would be really better!

Then, the english thoroughbred ( you can eat it, if tou want!) and and the analogy with the Russian salad, that isn’t Russian at all!

Magda e BasBleu cercano cose che si chiamano "inglesi" senza esserlo: la zuppa inglese non è inglese, e a dir la verità non è nemmeno una zuppa!!

ALCUNE IDEE:
- in portoghese una espressione idiomatica che è "perchè lo veda l'inglese": quando qualcuno fa qualcosa "perchè l'inglese veda" lo fa solo per l'apparenza. Sicuramente centra con la grande presenza in Portogallo di inglesi, principalmente nel XiX secolo.

-E poi: il mitico Corte Ingles !!! La catena di grandi magazzini più famosa della spagna !!!! Assolutamente non inglese....

Poi, anche cose più particolari ma sempre inglesi, tipo:
-la doccia scozzese
-lo scotch (il liquore, ma potrebbe anche essere il nastro adesivo, in entrambi i casi significa "scozzese")
-lo scrittore Irvine Welsh, che vuol dire "gallese"

Oppure il purosangue inglese (che, volendo, si mangia!) e l'analogia con l'insalata russa che non è russa!!

We have just started working on the project (we have had a very busy last few months) and just have a few questions.

1. Is the size of the images 30 x 30cm if they are double page spreads and does this then mean that there are 6 or 12 of the double pages?
As regards the size of the story, each section will be composed by 12 pages.
Your part is composed of 12 pages, each one of the size 30cm (horizontal) x15cm (vertical). (spread dimension = 2 pages = 60x15 cm)

2. I think that my story is a little complicated and will be hard to tell them all in the 12 pages! Could we simplify it? Maybe sticking to one of the 7 scenes or just on character. Or make just a set of random images that are not necessarily a narrative but still have the continuing theme of rain and the surreal routine? This could also be a possibility?
Yes, you can simplify! (we mean that you can illustrate only some parts of the story) but without losing the narrative sequence of the plot. Although the book is a collection of different sketches, organized along a common theme (as different travel notes of different travellers), we’d like that your and Fumje’s chapters were more narrative than the other ones.
We think it’s important to show a story and not only some details. Howether, to comunicate the narrative idea, you don’t need to illustrate each different action. There will be also the text that is useful to reach this narrative aim.

3. Can we include text? If so should this be in English?
As concerns the texts in the story, you can include some sentences, words or text in english. Anyway the story all arond the book will be in italian and we will write it down in the final version only when we’ll have the illustrations.

Nel mondo ci sono piu di città che si chiamano “London”. Ce ne sono 10 negli Stati Uniti e una in Canada. Cosi nella parte “COME ARRIVARE” potrebbero essere queste informazioni:

Pittsburgh – London .... 3 km
Paris – London ... 6000 km

“COME ARRIVARE”
– questa idea e un po difficile a spiegare e realizare: Per andare a Londra (o qualsiasi altra citta) dall una altra citta con aeroporto dura poco di tempo. Invece da uno paese, che e relativamente vicino ma non ha trasporto pubblico il viaggio potrebbe durare abbastanza lungo.

Idea sarebbe fare la carta (ho almeno carta solo con qualche citta) dove la distanza nella carta non significa kilometri nel realta ma ore, che ci vogliono per andare dal uno posto nel altro.

- le altre possibilita sono nuotare attraverso La Manche (alcune persone lo anno gia fatto)

Tra gli altri animali che hanno visitato Londra c'e balena. Uno di trasporti possibili sarebbe entrare in una balena (come nella storia con Jonah)

Sto pensando a fare un disegno con tutte le cose che vengono a Londra dalle altre parte - i tubi con acqua, elettricità, i vermi, ucelli, che nell inverno abitano nell africa e durante estate in Inghilterra, linee telefoniche, etc.

“IL TEMPO"
la pagina (o parte della pagina), dove sara testo finto sull tempo a Londra, sara “bagnato” della pioggia cosi, che non e piu legibile. Praticamente una cosa del genere:

potrebbero essere tutte le cose del altre parti del mondo che

hanno nel nome parola "Londra" o "inglese", ma le persone a Londra o Ingliterra non le

conoscono. Per esempio, nella Slovacchia abbiamo il speck che si chiama "anglicka

slanina"="speck inglese". Una volta c'era da noi in Slovacchia un inglese che quando ha

visto il nostro "anglicka slanina" ha detto che "English man would never eat something like this."

Così, questo potrebbe essere sugli stereotipi che non sono veri.
